North

2017 BOND PROJECTS

NORTH OVERVIEW

There are nine projects designated in the North totaling $283.7 million. Five new schools are to be built including a K-8 language immersion magnet on site of the former J.M. Alexander Middle School and a new high school replacing West Charlotte, built more than 60 years ago. Bonds approval will continue the intensive school construction program in one of the fastest growing parts of the county, upgrading aging facilities, modernizing classrooms and delivering more academic options for CMS families. Projects include second phase of K-8 conversion at Mountain Island Lake Academy with upgrades to its gym and specialty classrooms. In addition to the nine projects in this package, the North area received funding for 17 projects in the past two bond campaigns.
